COULD YOU HAVE HYPERTHYROIDISM OR GRAVES' DISEASE

Some people rarely have exophthalmoses (eyes that protrude from their orbits)

It is important to get your thyroid tested. I was misdiagnosed for almost a year. I was told I had and anxiety disorder. I was very anxious but I knew in my gut it was not a anxiety disorder as it was very sudden change in my anxiety level. I was told I had a Pseudotumor Cerebri, I was getting dizzy spells and really intense head aches, I came to find out headaches were caused by me grinding my teeth while I was sleeping which was caused by the high anxiety of the over active thyroid. I was itchy, which I was told was a neurological disorder and was prescribed a mild anti-depressant that I was afraid to take after reading the side affects. So after several doctors’ appointment to specialist, and ear nose and throat doctor, neurologist, dentist, natural path, acupuncturist and a general practitioner I was finally diagnosed with Graves Disease. The one good thing is that I lost 40 pound but Graves deteriorates your muscle tissue so it was a very unhealthy weight loss.

Some signs of excess thyroid hormone are:

  • Nervousness
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Shakiness
  • Dizziness
  • Rapid heart beat
  • Itchy skin or orange peel looking skin
  • Increased appetite
  • Loosing weight (or sometimes weight gain)
  • Increased perspiration
  • Some people have a goiter (enlarged thyroid gland)
  • Some people rarely have exophthalmoses (eyes that protrude from their orbits)

Some physical changes include:

  • Fine or soft skin and hair
  • Shakiness
  • Rapid pulse
  • Muscle weakness
  • Fast and fluid retention, more so in the extremities

If you feel you may have Graves' Disease or Hyperthyroidism it is important to get the proper medication as this disease left untreated can be fatal.
